L&T INFOTECH PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 19 MAR 2008 - BHUBANESWAR

Myself KUNAL from Jagannath Institute for Technology & Management, Paralakhemundi. Now I m in 6th sem...here I m going to tell about my experience about that placement drive. this was my second company bcoz I was not eligible for INFOSYS due to some new conditions. I was very shocked due to this and frankly speaking I had not a good preparation for this drive. Around 1300+ candidates attended the drive.

There were 3 rounds..
1. Written test
2. Group discussion
3. Personal Interview

Written test: It consist of three sections.
1. Aptitude (30 quest)
2. Reasoning (30 quest)
3. English (30 quest)

Aptitude section was a little bit tough. I didn't prepare well for this section but anyhow I managed to do this portion. My suggestion is to refer R.S.AGGARWAL for this section. It is just more than enough...but u need to be conscious towards time management as there was sectional and overall cutoff.

Reasoning was the portion which was positive point 4 me as I prepared it in a nice manner for INFOSYS. Again u go through VERBAL & NON-VERBAL REASONING BY R.S.AGGARWAL.... Try to complete this portion in short while of time bcoz all the questions will be easy..

English eas in between the two...not so easy..not so hard...4 synonyms were there which were as usual tough. Then two passages were der...which u should do in the last coz it is an easy part.. Regarding English I will say that if u have a good background of english then it will be a plus point for u...

Around 5:30 p.m. results for the written test were declared. Around 550+ cleared the written test and I was one of them.

Group Discussion:
After the results of written test 47 batches for GD were formed... In each batch 12 students were present.. I was in batch no:31...Around 7p.m. we were called for the GD...we suggested the topic LIVE IN RELATIONSHIP but the HR changed the topic by LOVE MARRIAGE Vs. ARRANGED MARRIAGE..

So..u be prepared with 2-3 topic of your own... our discussion went in a nice manner and finally I emerged as the leader... that was a positive sign for me.. so friends.. for GD keep u need to be a good communicator.. u need to keep your points in a clear manner with in a short while of time..

Around 9:30p.m. results were declared...selection was very tough as they were selecting maximum 4 from a group...from our group 4 were selected and again I made it..

After results documents verification were done and we were said to report at 8;00 a.m. sharp by next day...

Interview:
we were knowing that PI will be held but they changed the programme and they converted PI into Group interview...In my group 12 members were der..
Around 9:30 a.m. we were called for the interview...it was a HR interview only...general HR questions were asked from us.... when my turn came I thought that if I could represent myself in a nice manner for 10 minutes my life will be changed....
HR: From where u are?
Me: told..
HR: About family background.
Me: told
HR: are you willing to work anywhere?
ME: told..
HR: what is your position in your class?
Me: told..
Hr: then questions from summer training.. if any (not technical)
Me: told about my training.
HR: then he asked some questions about hobbies...
Me: told in detail (be prepared for lot of questions from this part)

Me: I told about my school senior who was working in L&T for 3 yrs.
HR: finally he said..if u have any questions>
Me: do we need to go for some additional training to be fit in L&T?
HR: replied in a very nice manner...

Then we had to wait for almost 6 hrs for the final result.. result was cummulative..i.e written+ marks in GD+Interviw... my name was called at 6th position....intially it was unbelievable that I did it but this was true that I was placed... after the final results..we were called to collect our offr letters and it was really nice to see your job in your hand.. I was overjoyed after the results as I didn't thought that I would get a job in 6th sem bcoz I lost my all hopes due to my year gap.

So friends...believe in yourself.. don't loose your hopes...just do your job with honesty...definitely u can do it...

LG SOFT PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 09 JAN 2009 - NOIDA

LG Soft came here in our campus for recruitment drive on 9th Jan 2008. Here are some details abt the process...

Brief Description of the process:-
Technical cum Aptitude test.
At least 2 tech interviews.
final HR interview.

No.of students appeared for the written test:-around 125.

The written test was having 45 ques based on 'C' and among them some ques were on Data Structures + 15 ques based on general aptitude....

No sectional cut-off and negative marking were there.....Apti was very easy...but 'C' was a bit tricky.. At a first glance you would think that this would be the nswer...but if you read it carefully, you will be getting differant answer... 'C' questions were based on function pointers, basics etc... You shuld have a firm hand on 'C' and Data Structures...

After around 1/2 to 1 hours, result of the tests were announced.. around 45 were shortlisted. Then after that, there were at least 2 rounds of technical interviews... Depending on one's performance in the 1st round, he/she would be giving 2nd technical round.. I faced three rounds of technical interviews.. The ques were based on C and Data Structures....

Once, you go into HR interview, after clearing all the initial interviews.. You will be selected. In the evening, results were announced. 13 ppl got selected.. I was one of them. The joining is on 21st Jan. If your C basics are very clear, then only you will be able to clear the tech interviews.. In order to get selected you should have sound knowledge of 'C'

Some ques asked were:-
Rate ur self in C... function to get central node of the linked list.. reversing the linked list.. etc....

MASTEK PAPER - 02 APR 2008

tryin my bit to help all u guys n gals appearing for MASTEK placement...

APTITUDE : 6 SECTIONS : 2 hrs

1) C++ : 15 questions
More than half were conceptual for example:

Which of the following statements are true:
I)Destructors can have arguments. F
II)Destructors can be overloaded. F
III)....
IV)...so on

Another example: Can friend functions be calld using pointer to pointer functions? Ans: NO

What is the default access specifier for an inheritance? Ans: Private
Lotsa questions on INHERITANCE concepts....

2) RDBMS : 15 questions
Some were conceptual, some were very general and others were kinda queries. For eg:
which type of join is not used commercially?
Ans: Inner Join

Then...Definition of 3NF was given and we had to find which normalization was it representing. Read up all of the Joins..i.e Natural, outer, left outer, right outer etc. This section is not very difficult if you know the basic fundas of DBMS.. no need to go in depth..

3) PROGRAMMING ABILITY : 15 questions
Either we had a question, codes as the options and choose the right one..for eg:

To find prime nos frm 1 to 100 which of the following code is correct. 4 options were given...

A pattern of output is given say

0 0 1 2 0 0...so on and 4 codes as options, choose the correct. The catch here was only abt the format and not the logic in most cases.. in this case der were two exactly similar option the only difference being a PRINTLN statement after every output in one of them...so dats the correct one!!!

Or There were questions with loops starting frm I=0 upto I=50 and we had to find the value of sum variables used in the for loop after the execution..again the catch here was u neednt have to go thru the loop 50 times during the dry run... u tend to get a kind f sequence when u do the dry run for abt 5-6 times and den u apply ur quant abilities and get the answer...

Some of the options in d code had simple SYNTACTICAL errors and were to be striked off as wrong...so u din have to actually dry run sum codes at all..!!!

4) VERBAL : 15 or 20 questions
It was very simple....choose correct alternative/best word that suits the sentence, simple synonyms and 2 reading comprehension which were technical related topics... for instance We got one on Microprocessors and another on Multithreading so I dint have to read the passage at all to anwer the question...

5) ANALYTICAL/QUANT : 15 questions
Very simple. Two questions were based on Venn Diagrams and one on sequences while a few others on Logical Reasoning. A bit of RS agarwal and a cool mind is enuf to clear this.

6) CASE STUDY : 5 questions
There was a case study given on Stacks:Ram, Ravi and Nithya in one class and 3 other students (names I don't remember) in another class. Their weights were given in kgs. You have to place them in two separate stacks such that the weight of the person on the top of stack is the lowest.
There were 5 very simple questions on the stack implementation for this scenario. If there is a Case Study section, please do attempt it.

There was a sectional cut-off and most of whom were selected in the aptitude got placed. Take care and all the best...

MINDTREE PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 19 FEB 2008 - KARNATAKA

This is Dattatreya Halade from UBDT college DAVANGERE, Karnataka.. MINDTREE CONSULTING visited our coll campus on 19-20th Feb. out of 115 people who attended Round-1 only 18 were selected. Here is the selection procedure that the company followed in OUR campus..

ROUND-1: - Written Test
30 quantitative aptitude questions ONLY (refer R.S aggarwal).
Time limit of 45mins

Some quests
Avg of 5 nos is 6, in that 3 nos avg is 8, whats avg of other 2? Ans- 3

Similar questions on area, time/work, %age, age, speed..

Sorted candidates were 51 out of 115.

NOTE: aggregate matters on Ur selection in round-1 as well, if u have agg > 70 then u r almost guaranteed a spot in the GDs...

ROUND-2: GD
3 groups of 17 people each made...

Topics: - cricket, censorship, and another one!

Out of 51, 39 were selected, this was the easiest round to clear..

ROUND-3: TECHNICAL WRITTEN TEST
For respective branches, questions of their types were allotted, there was no time limit as such they wanted to measure the approach of the candidate towards questions... around 8 quests were given and 3hrs allotted...

Some topics of help- C (definitely for computer science guys) Microprocessor (elect guys)

Filtration: - out of 39, 21 were selected for the next round.

ROUND-4: HR INTERVIEW
Simple interview with basic HR questions, Be prepared with the company profile etc...

Finally 18 from 21 were selected.. My suggestion would be a bit of technical knowledge and a lot of LUCK will help!

NAGARRO PAPER - 09 FEB 2008 - NEW DELHI



Nagarro 1st written test consists of the following with the time limit of 2.5 hrs
1. Aptitude (20 Q's)
2. Analytical Ability (20 Q's)
3 Coding paper (4 Q's - 1hr)

APTITUDE:
Aptitude consists of geometry, 1question from trignometry, Mensuration, Profit n loss and distance/speed/time and time and work. This part was easy. Formulas to be used were mailed to us, int prior, but they were not provided with the question paper.

ANALYTICAL ABILITY:
These questions were really easy, and can be done in 15-20 mins.
For above two, books I would recommend you would be Barons and RS aggrawal and good puzzles book.

CODING (Should be Efficient in terms of time and space):
Aptitude and Analytical Ability papers were taken back when this section was given to us. And in each coding question paper, function prototype was given.

Programmin section 1.30 hrs 4 question.

1) Seat Reservation prog for the theatre. Write a function for seat allocation for the movie tickets. Total no of seats available are 200. 20 in each row. Each row is referred by the Character, "A" for the first row and 'J' for the last. And each seat in a row is represented by the no. 1-20. So seat in diffrent rows would be represented as A1,A2....;B1,B2.....;........J1,J2... Each cell in the table represent either 0 or 1. 0 rep would seat is available, 1 would represent seat is reserved.

Booking should start from the last row (J) to the first row(A). At the max 20 seats can be booked at a time. if seats are available, then print all the seat nos like "B2" i.e (2 row, 3 col) otherwise Print "Seats are not available." and we must book consecutive seats only.

2) A string of charaters were given. Find the highest occurance of a character and display that character.

OUTPUT: E

3) Int Matrix of certain size was given, We had few values in it like this.

void get (int value,int indexX,int indexY,int indexZ, int [] 1dArray);
On 26th Feb, we were called for the interview on the next day. i.e 27th Feb.

There in we had to appear for the written test again of coding, consisting of 4 Q's and followed by one tech interview and then HR interview. HR is just the formality.. All the candidates went through, all 3 rounds.

CODING Q's in the 2nd written test.

1. A chessboard was given to us. Where in there was a Knight and King was placed on certain positions. Our aim is to reach the king from the knight in minimum no of counts.As we know, knight can either move 2 steps vertical/horizontal and 1 step horizontal/vertical. same goes here as well. Proper image of the chess board was given in the question paper, and all the positions(max 8) were given that knight can take in the first step. Sol : Most of us implemented using recursive func.

2. Struct person{

We were given the networklist of friends. Each has set of friends which was unidirectional i.e, if you are my frnd, then i may or may not be in ur frnds list. okie. Network was like this:

We need to identify whether 1st person being passed is a frnd of another person or not. Frnds can be frnd's friend also and so on. And we need to identify the distance. for example

Output: Distance 2
Input: Rahul, Aman
Not frnds.

3) There was a 2D matrix given, we were supposed to sort the all diagnols elements. diagnols of Top left corner and Top right corner were to be sorted in the same matrix in an efficient way.

4. We need to write the function to check the password entered is correct or not based on the following conditions..
a) It must have atleast one lower case character and one digit.
b) It must not have any Upper case characters and any special characters
c) length should be b/w 5-12.
d) It should not have any same immediate patterns like
abcanan1 : not acceptable coz of an an pattern
abc11se: not acceptable, coz of pattern 11
123sd123 : acceptable, as not immediate pattern
adfasdsdf : not acceptable, as no digits
Aasdfasd12: not acceptable, as have uppercase character

Technical interview was totally based on the coding we did, and how it can be improved.

RELIANCE PAPER & INTERVIEW - APR 2008 - CHENNAI


Im SRINIVAS (MECHANICAL). I attended RIL at Loyola college, Chennai. Nearly 3500 students were participated. For written test they fixed aggregate as 70 but due to more applications they increased % to nearly 80.

There are two tests.
1.MAT (30 mins,75 Q)
2.TAT (30 mins,50 Q)

1. MENTAL ABILITY TEST
There are questions from series, antonyms, vocabulary, proverbs, odd one out, ratios and alphabetical games. no need for special preparation but you should have sound knowledge in vocabulary. time management is must. they are repeating the same questions for 7 years.

1. cost of three pencils is 5 cents, then with 30 cents how much we can buy.....

I have selected in NIIT technologies. I m from CITM college pursuing B.E. in IT Branch. I would like to share my experience with u...

The paper consisted of 2 sections:

(i) picture series... a 3*3 matrix was given one element is unknown u have to choose that element relating to the matrix elements... u can practice that section from R.S.Aggarwal (MATRIX FIGURE). this section contains 36 ques which we have to perform in 30 minutes.

(ii) It consists of total 38 ques and time limit is 30 mins.. 10 ques are technical like.. conditions for applying normal forms to a relation, output programs, etc quite simple just make a reading to LET US C ...

5 ques are from English section.. antonyms, synonyms, fill in the blanks, relation... not that tough as GRE ques. 5 ques are from Logical Reasoning, 10 ques from quantitative just practice chaps like profit & loss, %age, Average, Time and distance...and 5 ques are such that...two columns are given with certain conditions ..u have to check whether both columns are equal, column1 is greater or vice versa..

THERE WAS NO SECTIONAL CUT OFF...

After the written test. The results were announced. from total 120 students appeared 4 the exam 28 were selected 4 the interview.

Then they started calling students for TECH-HR interview. 2 panels were taking the interview. My interview lasted for 35 minutes. The questions they asked for me were:
1st: Tell me something about urself, ur family background.
2nd: Why I opt to become a software engineer..
3rd: who is my role model http://www.ChetanaS.org

4th: some technical ques were also asked about ur area of interest.. I replied C & C++.. so he asked some ques from that part... u should have the knowledge of DBMS concepts like normal forms, referrential Integrity, triggers... some SQL queries were also asked.

Then he said thats all from my side. DO u want to ask any questions???
Always try to ask some question regarding the company's clients, future aspects etc.
Just be confident in what u speak...

After 1 hour they announced the results. Among 28 students 17 got selected and I was one among them...

This is Ganesh from Dr.AIT, Bangalore . Tech Mahindra (MBT) had campus recruitment Drive on April 10th 2008 in my college. Out of 337 candidates 37 were shortlisted after online aptitude test and finally 17 got selected. I was lucky to be one among them.

There were 4 rounds:

1. Aptitude:

It had six sections: (60 mins)

Logical –verbal 35 questions

Logical-non verbal 10 questions

Numerical Aptitude 25 questions

English 1 10 questions

English 2 10 questions

English 3 10 questions

Total of 100 questions.

Logical-verbal section had questions on alphabetic series completion, analogy etc. and was very easy.

Logical-non verbal section had simple questions on blood relations, finding the odd one out etc.-easy

Just go through verbal & non verbal by RS agarwal.

Numerical aptitude- all questions were straight forward without any twist. Just go through time and distance, boats & streams, mixtures, partnership (3 questions), time & work, Races and games(3 Q), time & work etc. from RS agarwal.-easy

English 1&2 consisted of 4 synonyms and 1 antonym questions, fill in the blanks types using proper prepositions, conjunctions, and meanings of idioms etc-little tricky.

English 3-most easiest part. Consisted of 2 small paragraphs with 5 questions each-very easy.

Even though they tell that there is no negative marking don’t tick much answers blindly. If u manage to attempt 70-75 questions correctly you are almost through in apti.

2. Tech-1: It was quite like hr round. Intrwier didn’t ask much about technical. he asked me to introduce myself. then askd diff. between leader and manager and finally asked about subjects which I like most and that I don’t like.

3. Tech-2: In this I was asked about C. mainly pointers and functions. Also go through common Lab programs in C. But CS/IS candidates may be asked, questions on their core subjects like C++, UNIX, data structures etc.

4. HR: Here once again I was asked to introduce myself. Then ‘why tech Mahindra?’ and finally something about achievements (mentioned in resume).

In all it was a nice experience. Best of luck for all of u.
